Performing Arts Meet Contemporary Art

We are launching an exciting collaboration between WAY gallery Sthlm and Maxim. WAY, a gallery and art platform that has carved out an important space in the art scene since 2020, joins forces with Maxim, a legendary venue with a strong artistic tradition. As part of Maxim’s initiative to merge performing arts with contemporary art, the bistro is now opening up for artistic installations and unique art experiences.

The collaboration kicks off with a duo exhibition featuring Elina Flyrin & Melina Badejo, two artists who each explore textiles as a medium in distinct ways.

Elina Flyrin, based in Stockholm, works with textiles, drawing, and painting. Her art moves between the physical and the immaterial, touching on themes such as the emergence of the body, life’s journeys, and existential questions. With a degree from Goldsmiths University of London (2019) and ongoing studies in the Master Craft program at Konstfack, her works are represented in the collections of Region Stockholm and Stockholm Konst.

Melina Badejo, a Swedish-Nigerian artist, holds a bachelor’s degree in textiles from Konstfack. Her artistic expression has evolved from abstract painting to a craft-based approach using yarn. Through her work, she explores reflections, experiences, and cultural heritage, addressing themes of safety, curiosity, desire, and pleasure.
