“Emotion Regulation” is a series of abstract paintings that explores the emotional landscape and the inner processes we use to navigate life’s fluctuations. Through a combination of color, texture, and form, fleeting emotional states - from explosive anger to quiet acceptance - are transformed into visual narratives that invite reflection.

The paintings are non-figurative and channel pure emotion directly onto the canvas, making each work a visual monologue. The layered technique reflects the flow of thoughts and the intensity of emotions. It serves as a visual reminder that emotions are not static, but constantly evolving - an ongoing process of regulation.

Amanda Malm explores the tension between control and unpredictability in her work, especially through the process of glass fusing, an ancient technique she is passionate about bringing into the contemporary spotlight. Her process typically begins as a burst of color and ideas that is gradually distilled into physical form.

While she often starts with a clear mental image, she embraces the surprises that emerge from the kiln, letting the material take part in shaping the final result. She is drawn to materials that resist manipulation, challenging their limitations with playful experimentation and precision.

Influenced by the aesthetics and energy of the 1960s and 70s music scene, as well as her travels around the world, Amanda explores the interplay of shape, color, and texture. Her work merges diverse materials into vivid, tactile compositions that celebrate both process and imperfection.

Amanda Malm (b. 1987 in Sundsvall, raised in Gothenburg and Sundsvall) is a Skåne-based Swedish artist. With a background in design, she works across painting, sculpture, and glass fusing.
