Manon Steyaert
Manon Steyaert’s practice moves fluidly between painting and sculpture, with silicone as a primary material. Rooted in material exploration, her work often treats silicone like fabric, draping, folding and layering it across structures to blur the boundaries between mediums. Her process is both intuitive and meticulous, shaped by the physical demands and temporal nature of her materials. Colour plays a significant role, with vibrant and metallic pigments interacting with light and form to heighten the sensory experience.
By merging the aesthetic languages of architecture, fashion and abstraction, Steyaert creates works that defy traditional categorisation and invite viewers to reconsider the relationship between painting and sculpture. Her work has been shown internationally in solo and group exhibitions, including the solo exhibition ’Magpie’ at WAY gallery Sthlm in 2023, and continues to evolve through ongoing material experimentation.
Manon Steyaert (b. 1996 in France) lives and works in London. She studied fashion and fine art, completing a Foundation at Central Saint Martins (2014–2015), a BA in Fine Art at Central Saint Martins (2015–2018), and an MA in Fine Art at Chelsea College of Arts (2018–2019).
