Johan Bjurmar’s multidisciplinary practice moves between product design, figurative abstraction and architecture. His works are defined by a balance between the advanced and the conceptual, where product design demonstrates clever precision and refined aesthetics, while his paintings unfold with bold abstraction, complexity and vitality.

“I often create archives of things, it could be a text I found, a line in a painting, a texture, a reflection on the wall, an old picture, or a conversation. I don't try to organize them, I just let them blend and become parts of my work like fragmented memories.” This approach runs through Bjurmar’s practice, allowing disparate impressions to merge into objects and images that carry the presence of lived experience.

Johan Bjurmar (b. 1994 in Stockholm, Sweden) is an artist, designer and architect. He graduated from Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design in 2018, studied material properties and potentials at Design Academy Eindhoven, and completed studies at Aarhus School of Architecture in 2023.
