Caroline Harrius
Caroline Harrius’s ceramic practice engages with questions of gender hierarchies in craft history and how these structures shape the perception of her work in a contemporary context. She investigates how different crafts are valued depending on which groups have historically been associated with them, using her own making as a site for critical reflection.
Decorative techniques connected to the domestic space are central to her practice. By combining these methods with contemporary ceramic forms, Harrius reevaluates traditions often overlooked or diminished, positioning them as vital components in a broader artistic language. Her works invite a reconsideration of craft, value and the cultural narratives embedded in materials and techniques.
